Xikar HC 2 Squared CigarsThe 2012 introduction of Xikar HC Squared Cigars gave its brand a further boost amongst its industry competition. While known for its wide range of smoking accessories, the company has found great success in the manufacturing of stogies. The newest addition to its popular line-up is a unification of superior tobaccos discovered throughout the travels of founders Kurt Van Keppel and Scott Almsberger. The blend and craftsmanship of Xikar HC Squared Cigars has not only placed a spotlight on the brand itself, it is has kept aficionados coming back for more.

Beginning in 1996 the focus of Xikar Inc. was to produce the industry's best accessories, such as lighters, humidors, and their highly regarded cutters. In 2008, they ventured into new territory with the birth of the first smoke in this series, and they haven't looked back since. As with each installment, the newest addition is described as a souvenir from the worldwide journeys Van Keppel and Almsberger embarked upon. While the others had their own unique combination of tobacco, Xikar HC Squared Cigars are composed of Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Ecuadorian leaves. Although the brand is headquartered in Missouri this stogie is manufactured by the well known A.J. Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua. They are available in four sizes, including the Robusto, Toro, Belicoso, and Grande.

Right out of the humidor, its box pressed appearance is said to look fresh and impressive. The Habano 2000 wrapper is a pale brown with a bit of red highlighting. The band has been updated since the previous installments with a rather basic front side and more detail to the back. It has a rawhide-like texture to the skin with minimal veining present. It is described as having an ideal pack with a firm cap to top it off.

Prior to igniting, the wrapper is said to have a barnyard aroma while the stick gives off a smell of lumber, spiciness, and a slight floral undertone. It has a solid and natural feel in the hand. One review described the pre-lit draw as cool with an intricate blend of flower and wood flavors.

Upon firing up Xikar HC Squared Cigars its medium bodied strength is evident with an immediate taste of oak and spiciness. In addition, natural herbs and dry grass are said to peak through. Right out of the gates the burn is described as smooth and even with cream colored smoke and pale grey ash. The middle third of the smoke is said to bring an increased intensity to the flavor output. The spicy lumber is at the forefront while floral and fruity hints provide an added boost. Despite its described complexity, smokers pointed out the stick's easy transitions between flavors with each complementing the others. The final third carries on the distinctive taste and ideal burn. The spiciness and herbal plant notes are said to remain alongside the same woodsy undertones. A slight hint of warm nuts introduces itself towards the end. Reviewers agreed on the superb consistency of flavors and aromas from start to finish. The light ash was said to hold firm and the burn was perfectly even throughout.

Xikar HC Squared Cigars have proved the brand's staying power in the stogie production aspect of the industry. From their superior construction to the original mix of tobacco, these smokes have become a staple in the humidors of many dedicated aficionados. With a price tag in the $6-8 range it is a not one to be missed.
