Viaje Winter Project CigarThe Viaje Winter Project Cigars are the fifth release of the White Label Project. It is their very first release of the year 2012. The White Label cigars have the purpose of encouraging customer reviews and interaction. They are one time releases of new blends, shapes and experiments. They may be altered, dropped, or put into regular production, depending on the feedback the company receives. This project offers aficionados the possibility of suggesting the flavors or blends they would like to experience.

Similar to the other White Label releases, these come wrapped in a layer of newspaper followed by a membrane of cellophane. With only 6,250 of these manufactured, they average around $8.00 per stick and come in bundles of 25.

Like many of Viaje's other offerings, they are produced in the Fábrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas S. de R.L. factory in Danlí, Honduras. They are entirely Nicaraguan in composition, featuring a Nicaraguan puro that comes neatly packaged in a dark brown, smooth, lightly veined corojo wrapper. The Viaje Winter Project Cigars come in the size and shape (commonly referred to as the vitola) that is classified as Rothschild, which is a length of 4 ½" and a ring gauge of 48. The shorter length is meant to reduce smoking time, which is a convenient feature for a stick that was ultimately created for outdoor smoking during the cold winter months in the northern states. Many reviewers have stated that the Viaje Winter Project Cigars exhibited a smoking time that varied from slightly under to just over an hour. They also stated that the construction of the cigar was such that the nub did not overheat or become harsh. The diminished gauge does not prevent it from being medium bodied and having an even burn line. The smoke was described as firm when squeezed and featured a slightly dark grey ash that is common to the Viaje brand.

The Viaje Winter Project Cigars feature flavors that start out subtle and then progress to being bolder in the final third. Reviewers said there was an elusive impression of leather found in both the aroma and taste. They also stated that there were rich, woody flavors that permeated the length of this White Label smoke. Creaminess, along with a delicious undertone of nuttiness made its appearance during the midway point of smoking, but was said to fade in the final third. This cigar displayed an impressive smoke volume with muted hints of espresso and chocolate. Those who tried this stick said that the flavor profile changed to more of a spice, like that of black pepper. The flavor profile was described as smooth and interesting and the reviewers found that the hints of pepper added a pleasant spiciness that never approached overwhelming. There were also notes of chocolate in the smoke's aroma and on the palate. Almost all reviews praised the pleasantness of the draw and burn.

The Viaje Winter Project Cigars are a limited edition offering that boasts of an entirely original blend. They have pleased reviewers and enthusiasts with its flavors, aromatics, and overall duration of the smoke. Described frequently as high quality and well-balanced by reviewers, the flavor profile is appealing and certainly worth a try.
