Vega Fina Limited Edition 2010 Cigars Review and InformationVega Fina limited edition 2010 cigars were a successful push by Altadis USA to break the brand on American shores. Also titled the “Sumum 2010,” this medium-full flavored stick was an ingenious boutique release. The company is a top seller in Europe and the number one line sold in Spain. Most of the brand’s releases are on the mild side. The Sumum stays true to this with a delicious drag, while adding a bit of spice. “Sumum” itself is latin word meaning the greatest, or the summit, and is a fitting title for a product considered to be one of the best for both Altadis USA and Vega Fina.

The Vega Fina limited edition 2010 cigars are the unique, last line blended by Jose Seijas at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory. These single, 5x54 robusto gordos are crafted from leaves chosen at the peak of the season for their beautiful Colorado color and natural aromas. The toasty aroma and desirable flavors are created using an Ecuadorian Cubano wrapper aged for two years. The binder is a Santa Domingo leaf, and the cigars are filled with an expert blending of Peruvian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan leaves, all aged three years.

The wrapper of the Sumum is an undeniably beautiful cinnamon and dark chocolate color. The red clay surface is covered with oils and toned marbling. The natural sugar gives the wrapper a smooth texture. There are only a few larger veins present. The stick is buoyantly spongy when squeezed and feels properly weighted and packed. The appearance is rounded off by a paradigm triple cap and dual platinum bands, with the silver footer band denoting the “limited edition” status.

The Vega Fina limited edition 2010 cigars aroma is a bouquet of earthy coconut shells and cedar. Dark chocolate and sweet tobacco are enhanced by a cold draw of herbs and molasses. The first pulls are marked by a  taste of leathery, lemon grass and smoky earth. Continuing into the first third wonderful profiles of spiced molasses and dry espresso appear. A rich hint of cream accompanies these flavors into the second third. The complexity continues to build with a buttered lemon and herb taste. Halfway, the creaminess, lemon taste, and overall citrus tinge really become apparent, while the herbal, earthy hay notes gently fade. The natural molasses reduction and increasing creaminess form into a note similar to maple syrup. They are then nicely joined by a sweet yet dark roasted coffee bean taste. The complexity is again enhanced by a distinct background note of candied nougat and malted spice. The final third really helps to solidify the Vega Fina limited edition 2010 cigars as the sticks are marked by a lemon and citrus buttered sweet cream and dark coffee forefront. The tart, yet warm and sweet cream lead was underlined by a salty, woodsy earth hint, with syrupy leather tied into the background. Burning to the nub was effortless.

To the finish, the drags remained staunch but achieved a cooling softness. The model white ashes held for inches behind a razor-edged burn line. The drags began pluming and self-formed into the perfect density, with medium-full pulls. These stogies are an anytime, after any meal smoke, worthy of enjoying two in a row. The Vega Fina limited edition 2010 cigars are a product that will turn any aficionado into an instant admirer.
