San Cristobal Revelation Leviathon Cigar Reviews OnlineThe San Cristobal Revelation comes from the highly successful Ashton Distributors company, which has managed to stay under the radar while producing beloved blends. This cigar is an extension of one of the company’s two lines and was revealed at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show. It is lovingly crafted at the My Father S.A. cigar factory and offers the complexity that aficionados have come to expect from this company. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to most smokers, as the My Father S.A. factory is one of the most respected tobacco facilities in the world.

This cigar comes with an Ecuadorian Sumatran wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It is available in five vitolas, including Prophet (5 x 54), Mystic (5 5/8 x 48), Odyssey (5 3/4 x 60), Legend (6 1/4 x 52) and Leviathan (6 1/2 x 54). The wrapper is the color of milk chocolate and has some some slight veining. It is box pressed and finished with a triple cap, and gives just a little when pinched. The band is colorful and features the name of the line and stick amid some pastoral scenes including a yapping parrot. The prelight notes consists of some tobacco and interesting sweet tea notes.

The initial third of the San Cristobal Revelation cigar begins mildly. Reviewers note that there is some subtle spice flavors that tingle in the back of the throat. After a few draws in, a combination of milk chocolate and the sweet tea flavors shows up. The spice develops throughout the first-third, eventually blossoming into a cinnamon that works well with the sweet milk chocolate and tea flavors.

During the second-third of the cigar, the cinnamon spice fades into a tertiary role that only appears intermittently. However, the milk chocolate grows in intensity, producing a very tasty, sweet profile. Other sweet notes dart in and out and reviewers were able to pin down an undercurrent of caramel that fills out the background some. Coffee and tea notes were also present in the background, producing a sophisticated range of tastes.

In the last third of the smoke, reviewers state that most of the sweet flavors are still present, with the milk chocolate and tea leading the way. The coffee is creamy in this part of the stick and overtakes the tea, which fades into the background. In the home stretch, the cream, coffee and chocolate flavors are the strongest. The cigar finishes smoothly and mildly, with just a puff of sweetness that lingers on the palate.

The San Cristobal Revelation cigar is medium bodied and medium strength, but its sweet flavors can really work with a novice enthusiast or anyone looking for an after dessert smoke. Like every smoke produced at My Father S.A., this stick comes with a flawless burn and draw. It performs admirably well and is even better after spending a little time in the humidor. In all, Ashton Distributors made a good decision to expand on one of its successful lines, and this blend fits right in.
