The Nat Sherman Nats are a series of cigarillos that are marketed to people who don’t have the time to smoke a full size cigar. They are also on the milder side so smokers of all experience levels can enjoy them. Some aficionados have issues with cigarillos, assuming they don’t produce enough flavor, but these diminutive sticks offer a sizeable punch for their size.

Each tin of Nat Sherman Nats comes with twenty cigarillos. The binder is Indonesian, and the fillers are a mixture of Brazilian, Dominican and Indonesian tobaccos. These sticks are unusual in that they are hand-rolled in Holland, not a country many U.S. smokers associate with tobacco.  Nats come with a Connecticut  Shade wrapped in a single vitola,  3.37 x 24, and  a simple band that features the company mark in maroon and yellow. The stick produces a distinct aroma of natural tobacco and some hints of spice.

The first half of the cigarillo starts off with some strong natural tobacco flavors that will continue throughout the smoke. A wood spice accompanies the tobacco notes and adds a little heat to the blend. A few reviewers also detected some grassy or earthy notes in the background as well, giving the blend a savory profile overall. Though these cigarillos are not particularly complex, they do offer steady flavors that maintain their integrity until the nub.

In the second half of the Nat Sherman Nats, the same tobacco, wood spice, grass and earth flavors are still present, though some have faded into the background. The tobacco and wood spice are still the dominant notes, though the wood spices transitions into something closer to cedar spice. The earth and grass notes are tertiary during the second half and just provide some flavor accents. The cigarillo finishes with a little heat though it is not harsh.

The aficionados that tried this cigarillo were quick to point out how easy it was to smoke. When working with compact vitolas, it can be difficult to control the cigar’s burn and temperature. Fortunately, the blend produces no harshness at the back of the throat, and the temperature stays constant. This, along with its mild strength and medium body, makes it an ideal smoke for people looking for a brief respite. Full size cigars can be difficult to handle when distracted and lighting and relighting will alter the taste and feel of the smoke. These cigarillos are the perfect solution to this problem, allowing aficionados to enjoy their hobby during a quick smoke break.
