Joya De Nicaragua Cigar ReviewJoya de Nicaragua Clásico series has the distinction of being the first to be sold outside of the country. It also holds another great distinction, and this is the fact that it is the official national cigar of Nicaragua. As a matter of fact, it is the only national cigar. All of the tobaccos are from Cuban seed.

The Joya de Nicaragua Clasico series is billed as being mild bodied to a medium type body. Its wrapper is made of Nicaraguan Criollo, yet it is also available in a Claro wrapper and it boasts all Nicaraguan fillers. The reviewers of this cigar have stated that it has lots of wonderful flavors and aroma notes, such as a woodsy cedar smell and a creamy, yet sweetened taste. It is available in the following sizes:

• Churchill (6 7/8 x 48)

• Consul (4 1/2 x 52)

• No. 1 (6 5/8 x 44)

• Toro (6 x 50)

• Torpedo (6 x 52)

• 6-ct Sampler (various)

Some of the reviewers argued that it was more full bodied than it is billed. Reviewers all said that there were a couple of slight veins that could visibly be seen on the body. It sports a double seam cap and is quite oily to the touch. While it is packed rather firmly, the reviewers reported that the Joya de Nicaragua Clasico series was not wrapped so tight that the draw was difficult.

The pre-light aroma of the Joya de Nicaragua Clasico series gave way to many earthy tastes that are described as being that of a barnyard type assortment. This usually describes hay, grass and other earthy notes. The pre-light draw gave a great preview of the wonderful things to come, such as milk chocolate and dark chocolate. This excited many of the connoisseurs who did the reviews because many of them favored that sweeter type of flavor profile.

This chocolate of both milk and dark varieties stays with the cigar through the first third. However, there is still a chocolate overtone to the second third with each puff on the cigar ending with a flavor note that has tinges of raisin. This is the flavor profile that rounded out the final third of the cigar as well. Most of the reviewers say that while they expected a little more complexity, they were very happy and satisfied overall with this delicious cigar.

The Joya de Nicaragua Clasico series also has been noted to include herbal flavors that are on the dry side. While this isn’t the most complex offering that can be found in this line, it is definitely worth looking into and trying. Many people say that this is a cigar that is best enjoyed as an after dinner treat. Most reviewers said that they paired it with a nice bottled water to enhance the various flavors that are found within, although some said it was perfect with a cup of coffee. It received high ratings from all reviewers, and when asked if they would recommend it to a friend they all said that they would.
