Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro CigarsThe Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro cigar was another great stick that was introduced at this year’s IPCPR. This smoke is the first from Casa Fernandez that uses a San Andres Maduro wrapper. It is box pressed, and the vitolas are offered in two sizes.

This offering is available at one’s favorite local brick and mortar cigar shop or online store. The binder and filler are made of 100% Aganorsa tobacco that is grown in the prime soil of Nicaragua. The two sizes that are offered are the El Supremo BP (58) 6 x 58 and the Robusto Extra BP (54) 5 x 54. Just like all of the other offerings from Tabacalera Tropical, these are grown using the finest Cuban seeds and using traditional methods of hand rolling each stick for the highest quality.

The reviewers that have had the opportunity to try the new Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro cigar agree that this is a perfect follow up to its natural counterpart. Many of those same people have thoroughly enjoyed the natural version that was released a few years back, and because of the respect the previous offering garnered, this has been a much anticipated release.

The full and robust flavor of the Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro cigar is accredited to the wrapper and the Aganorsa filler and binder. How do those tobaccos stack up once this cigar is lit? Reviewers state that the pre-light draw has a delicious flavor blend of rich cocoa and cinnamon. Once it is lit, the flavors of cocoa, coffee, and spice ebb and flow throughout the entirety of the smoke. The first third was said to be dominated by the cocoa, earth, and spice flavor notes. Sweetness from the wrapper is also noted as a differentiating factor from its natural equivalent. The second third is more of the same flavors, but the spice starts to get a bit more intense, adding a full nature to the body. The final third rounds out with the same flavor notes as before, and the spice continues to be a bold factor, but the sweetness becomes more prominent at this point. Some reviewers said that they noticed some woody notes as well during both the second and final third of the smoke.

The draw on the Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro cigar is noted as being perfect by a majority of those who reviewed it. The burn remains uniform throughout, which is rather impressive for a box pressed smoke. The ash holds on well, and has a nice salt and pepper coloring.

Without question, the Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro cigar does not disappoint the aficionado. This is considered to be a medium to full bodied smoke, and that is attributed to the wrapper, lending its intensity to the mix. The wrapper also adds to the sweetness that many people mentioned in their reviews. If the predecessor to this smoke is a personal favorite, then this new addition is one that needs to be tried as well. It is a bit of a bolder smoke than the natural version, but not too strong that a novice wanting to try a Maduro cigar would not enjoy or feel was too strong for them. For the aficionado, this is a magnificent offering that would make a great addition to one’s personal humidor.
