Avo 787 Cigars For Sale At Serious Cigars!Avo 787 cigars are another solid entry from master blender Hendrik Kelner and Avo Uvezian, the owner and namesake of the company. Uvezian linked up with Kelner following a successful career as a traveling jazz pianist. He spent time in the Middle East and all over the U.S. before settling down in Puerto Rico, where he discovered his love for tobacco. While his stogies often have blends featuring several tobaccos, this offering is more focused.

The wrapper is an Ecuador Sungrown (from Connecticut plants), while the binder and filler are both from the Dominican Republic. The Avo 787 cigars come in four vitolas, including Robusto (5 1/4 x 50), Perfecto (5 7/8 x 50), Piramides (6 1/2 x 54) and Churchill (6 3/4 x 48). At first glance, most reviewers are impressed with the size, heft and look of the stick. The wrapper is medium brown and is very smooth, with no veining or seams visible. The band features the company logo, which consists of the letters ‘A’ and ‘V’ locked together. The band is brown, white and gold, and also has Uvezian’s name stamped in block lettering.

During the pre-light draw, many aficionados detected barnyard, chocolate and earth notes. Upon lighting, the first flavors the Avo 787 cigars produced were said to be nuts, coffee and earth. This trio is well balanced throughout this part of the stogie, though most found the coffee taste to be the most assertive at times. A few also tasted some black pepper, but it was mild enough not to sting the palate. By the end of the first third, though, the coffee quietly fades away.

In the second third, the earth and nuts are the major flavors, but are joined by some sweet leather that starts off in the background. The earthiness also takes on a sweeter tone and becomes the dominant note for the majority of the second third. During this part of the stick, some reviewers state that it produces a large volume of smoke. Before entering the final segment of the stogie, the leather takes control of the profile.

In the final third of the Avo 787 cigars, the leather and earth remain, while the nuttiness disappears. These two flavors lose their sweetness, but remain until the end of the stogie. During the last inch, some aficionados received another punch of black pepper. The pepper stays with the leather and earth down to the nub, which is slightly warm to the touch.

This stick remains at a comfortable medium in both body and nicotine strength throughout the entire smoke. Reviewers found the burn and draw to be above average for the most part, though the burn may require a minor touchup here and there. The ash is an attractive salt and pepper color that flakes a little, but holds strong for an inch and a half. Many smokers stated that the Avo 787 cigars age really well, and some recommended storing them in a humidor before lighting them up. This should be no surprise to anyone who has smoked one of Uvezian’s blends before. Kelner infuses his sticks with a lot of complexity that often takes time and aging before expressing itself completely.
