Find Affinity Connecticut Churchill Cigars For Sale OnlineThe Affinity Connecticut cigars are one of the three blends Sindicato showed off during the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show. Sindicato is a new company in the tobacco industry, made up of dozens of retail owners looking to enter the production side of the business. They selected Jim Colucci to act as president and CEO of the startup, a good fit given his previous work as a former executive vice president of Altadis USA. Of the three blends Sindicato showed off, this one sits in the middle in terms of price, but still offers an impressive amount of flavor and strong construction.

This cigar comes with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The Affinity Connecticut is light brown in color and is very smooth to the touch, with few noticeable veins. It comes with an unusually shaped white, silver and red band that features the name of the stick and the name of the company in simple black lettering. It is available in six vitolas, including Robusto (5 x 52), Corona (5 1/2 x 46), Toro (6 x 54), Gran Toro (6 x 60), Belicoso (6 1/8 x 52) and Churchill (7 x 56). Its prelight draw consists of some subtle cream, wood and cedar notes.

The first-third of the cigar produces a combination of cream, pepper and a touch of citrus
. The citrus is strongest on the finish while the cream soon becomes the dominant flavor in the profile. Around the one-inch mark, the pepper fades into the background with the citrus, though both are soon joined by a delicate, toasty taste. The mix of cream, citrus and toast creates a light smoking experience overall, with the pepper adding a touch of heat. Near the end of the first-third, the retrohale develops and takes on a wood and pepper taste.

In the second-third of the Affinity Connecticut, the toasty flavor present in the initial third transitions to something akin to pretzel dough and bread crust
. Some reviewers also detected some chalk in the profile, giving the smoke an interesting mixture of mineral, wood, sweet and citrus flavors.

During the last third of the stick, the bread flavors join the cream notes in the foreground. The pepper and citrus are still present in the background, adding some bursts of flavor that complement the primary notes well. The final third keeps this flavor profile going until the nub, which ends smoothly.

In fact, the entire cigar could best be described as smooth. It is a mild to medium bodied stick that’s also around mild to medium in strength. It is ideal for a novice enthusiast who wants to test their palate with some subtle flavors without being hit with too much nicotine. Enhancing the experience is its strong burn and draw, which remain excellent throughout. Overall, Sindicato’s freshman effort is an impressive one and suggests even better things are to come from the company.
