The RoMa Craft CroMagnon Is a Fine Flavorful Cigar. The RoMa Craft CroMagnon cigar features Nicaraguan filler. The cigar also features a Connecticut broadleaf Maduro wrapper and a Cameroon binder. This unique combination has been used by only two other manufacturers, Gurkha and Cao. However, only Roma Craft Tobacco combines these with Nicaraguan filler. The filler is a unique blend of tobaccos grown in three parts of the country: Condega, Esteli, and a small farm located near the Honduran border.

Cigar reviews describe the RoMa Craft CroMagnon cigar as beautifully made. No soft spots were detected by aficionados, and few veins, if any, were seen. The leaf was remarkably natural in appearance, making the smoke stand out with even greater attraction factor.

Reviewers have also described the cigar as having a near perfect draw. There is a great deal of smoke here, and lots of white ash that holds strong. The burn becomes sharper as the smoke progresses without affecting the draw. This smoke is made from a blend of tobaccos that contain a considerably higher amount of resin than other blends. Novice smokers may have a bit of a problem because they may light the cigar in too big of a hurry. However, the need for touchups is eliminated simply by taking one’s time.

During the first third of the RoMa Craft CroMagnon cigar, the taste is often said to be earthy and woody. Some noticed a taste almost akin to that of roast beef, which earned high marks in some circles. Notable, as well, was the flavor of the retrohale. It was distinguished by a blend of charred oak flavors and black pepper. There is also a pepper taste, distinct, but not too strong, starting right from the beginning. It serves as the dominant taste at the very beginning, serving as something of an introduction to the cedar like, woody notes that follow. Toward the second third, these woody notes become even more noticeable, enhancing the tobacco flavor that reclaims its hint of sweetness. The pepper, not quite in the background, but not as prominent as the wood taste, gives a tingle to the palate as the second third begins.

At the beginning of the second third, a new flavor emerges. The RoMa Craft CroMagnon cigar exhibits a definitively sweet tobacco taste. Some reviewers have compared this to black licorice; while others simply describe it as a general sweet taste overall. Regardless of perception, it functions as a highly suitable blend with the earthy flavors that have been present since the first third.

Meanwhile, the pepper continues to contribute a definitively spicy taste that continues throughout the final third. At this point, the blend of flavors in the RoMa Craft CroMagnon cigar has become well established. The tobacco taste becomes more prominent here, but the woody taste remains present as well. Also, the pepper remains in play as the end of the second third arrives. The sweetness, much like black licorice, remains strong, but not overpowering. At this point, it begins to blend superbly with the pepper. This combination culminates in a spicy note that caps off the experience in a refreshing, sharp, and yet simultaneously sweet experience. These fine cigars need to be smoked to be believed.
