Nording 50th Anniversary Toro CigarOrigin and Characteristics

Nording 50th Anniversary cigars are the result of collaboration between Rocky Patel and Erik Nording. Rolled at the Tavicusa Factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the stick features well-aged Nicaraguan long filler and a Nicaraguan binder wrapped in an attractive, dark brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Unlike many anniversary edition stogies, this release will not be a limited run special edition. Instead, it is already in constant production and should be around for years, if not decades, to come.

Appearance

Nording 50th Anniversary cigars feature a Toro Grande design that measures 6” in length and features a 54 ring gauge. When held, reviewers stated that the wrapper feels just a little bit oily to the touch, very firm, and comfortably heavy. It displays a nice, solid Colorado color that is accented with a reddish clay hue and the presence of subtle veins that show consistently throughout its surface, all the way to the tight cap. Two colorful bands encircle the wrapper. The top band showcases the Nording label, while the bottom band reads Rocky Patel.

Flavor

The foot of the cigar is said to light up with a fragrant blend of spices, hay, cocoa, and a touch of cedar. Nording 50th Anniversary cigars have been praised by multiple aficionados for this rich blend of flavors that strike the palate immediately upon lighting. Beginning with a solid, medium strength, the first third of the smoke is flavored by hints of cedar, wood, nutmeg, cloves, and toasted almonds punctuated by a superb blend of sweetness and mineral sharpness.

Reviewers have noted that the taste only improves in the second third of the smoke. With the original spices still present, hints of red pepper emerged to blend with the cloves and nutmeg. Also noticed were touches of cinnamon and coffee that mingled wonderfully with the wood notes present from the first draw.

Some smokers also noticed that floral hints began to emerge at this point. All were impressed, to say the least, by the complex blend of flavors where no one singular taste overpowered any other. What seems to characterize Nording 50th Anniversary cigars more than anything else is a smooth creaminess that combines all elements together without destroying their distinctiveness.

This is very evident in the final third of the stogie, where aficionados report highlights of pepper and cinnamon that come together without either one becoming dominant over the other. At the same time, the presence of nutmeg and cloves, evident since the very first draw, continues to dance around the palate to punctuate the tastes of wood and coffee. The balanced blend remains consistently strong all the way to the end—providing the smoker with a rich finale.

Overall Smoking Experience

The immediate introduction of flavor, the razor sharp burn, and the gray ash that holds firm all the way to the nub is evidence of a fine construction that produces an exceptional overall experience. Noted for its complex array of flavors and rich blend of smoke that reinforces the earthy tones on the palate, this stick is highly recommended by aficionados as either a morning or afternoon smoke. Most would agree, too, that the balance of flavor, strength, and smoothness makes Nording 50th Anniversary cigars ideal for both novice and experienced smokers alike.
