La Palina Goldie CigarsTrying a La Palina Goldie Collection cigar is a true experience that has aficionados raving, and the unique construction of the stogie guarantees it has an appearance matched only by its flavor and strength. The manufacturer has a history that goes back over a century, so the company has what it takes to produce only the finest products. Bill Paley recruited the famous master blender Avelino Lara, and with his inspiration continues producing stogies that appeal to the most discriminating palate.

The series debuted with the release of the Goldie Laguito No. 2. It was named after his beloved wife, Goldie Drell Paley, and was released in a limited number. The production of the Goldie Laguito No. 2 happened in Cuba’s Little Havana under the supervision of Sandy Cobas. Maria Sierra, master roller, was the only person that rolled the sticks in the 1,000 box release. She was trained by Eduardo Rivera Irizarri, Castro’s own personal stogie roller and has over 32-years of experience.

A La Palina Goldie Collection cigar is simply a better stick. It is hand rolled with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that is silky smooth, and the binder is from the finest Ecuadorian tobacco. The filler is a Nicaraguan and Dominican blend that is second to none. It is made of Medio Tiempo leaves found in less than 10% of tobacco plants, and the fine blend is highly prized for its exquisite flavor. The fan cap is skill taught exclusively to the quality rollers working at Villa El Laguito, and Maria Sierra provides an exceptional fan cap to each of the stogies to sweeten the deal.

The pre-light fragrance is top notch, and it is silky smooth to the touch. It is very firm and doesn’t have any soft spots to distract from the beautiful dark brown color. There are minimal veins, but the ones that are present are well-designed and add to the look and flavor. The first smell of a La Palina Goldie Collection cigar is of sugar cane, spices, barnyard, and has hints of fruit. Reviewers claim the cold draw is wonderful and makes them eager to get started.

This is not a simple stogie, and is in fact quite complex in flavor. The flavor blends transition smoothly and seamlessly without losing the perfect balance and the background is always filled with flavors of apricots and Bing cherries. The initial flavor of a La Palina Goldie Collection cigar offers hints of coffee, honey, and aged oak, and the tobacco flavor mixes well with the fruity combination without becoming too overpowering. The flavor blend has been described as fabulous.

The second third is just as flavorful as the first, and is just as complex. The flavors are stronger in the second third, but still as well balanced. There is considerable smoke released transitioning into the second third so the room fills with the fragrant aroma. The ash is holding strong, and there is no sign of it letting up anytime soon.

The final third is a great continuation of the second third with the balanced spicy sweet flavors still holding strong. The La Palina Goldie Collection cigar is cool to the touch all the way up to the nub, and the medium bodied strength continues on the strong side. The ride with these exceptional cigars is good, and these will not last long because reviewers found themselves looking for more before the final ash dropped.
