La Gloria Cubana Retro Especiale CigarTeam La Gloria spent eight years designing and perfecting this beautiful smoke. The idea for the design on the band and the box came from a very old humidor that featured decoupage art. This humidor was located inside the El Credito facility in the Dominican Republic. Sporting a wrapper made of Honduran Connecticut tobacco, the La Gloria Cubana Retro Especiale cigars also have a Mexican and Nicaraguan double binder. The filler is made from Nicaraguan and Dominican ligero in addition to Nicaraguan and Dominican proprietary tobacco.

The wrapper is almost its own piece of art work because it has no visible veins. It is very smooth with a hint of luxurious silk when it is held in the hand. This texture is very distinctive because there are no visible veins. Even the best rolled cigars have some veins even if they are almost too small to see. This one is quite different from the rest.

The reviewers said that the foot of the La Gloria Cubana Retro Especiale cigar had a great smell that included the intriguing aromatics of sweet cocoa and chocolate, along with noticeable hints of spice. When lit, reviewers said that the first taste the smoker is treated to is a subtle but nice woodsy flavored note. This woodsy note was immediately followed by a tongue tantalizing spice along with the earthiness which was described as sweet hay. Toward the end of the first third, the cocoa and chocolate were noted as making a comeback, yet they allowed room for the earthiness and woodsy flavors to remain in the back ground.

In the second third of the La Gloria Cubana Retro Especiale cigars, those that gave reviews said that all of the flavors from the first third continued to enhance and explode into a more powerful flavor. They also said that it continued as a medium-bodied, full flavor stick throughout the middle section of the smoke.

The reviewers noticed that during the final third of the cigar, they experienced the spice ramping up quite a bit. All reviewers agreed that a beverage would be quite handy throughout the final third of this smoke because the beginning of the last third was quite strong, but not at all unpleasant. All of the reviewers also agreed that although the first and second thirds of the smoke would be characterized as being medium bodied, the final third changed into a full bodied offering.

This cigar has been reported to be a superb offering among those found in the industry. Those that tried this stick all said that they would definitely smoke it again. The La Gloria Cubana Retro Especiale cigar is definitely special as its name indicates. From the story of its creation to the taste test that the aficionados put it through, it passed the test with flying colors...and then some.
