La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars are full bodied and full strength! The La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars are stogies that only dedicated tobacco artisans can make. This company has been making premium sticks for many years and has set some impressive trends. It was one of the first to embrace the new trend of bolder sticks and has managed to stay relevant even as other stogie makers followed suit. Its newest blend, debuted at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show, is another strong smoke to add to the company’s portfolio. It also comes in some unique packaging that can provide a nice conversation piece other aficionados will appreciate.

The wrapper on the La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars is a Jalapa Sol from Nicaragua, which is extremely rare. The binder and fillers are both from Nicaragua. These stogies are available in three vitolas, including the 54 (6 x 54), the 60 (6 x 60) and the 64 (6 1/4 x 64). All three can be found in unusually shaped boxes that mimic the shape the stogies are bundled in when put together on the factory floor. They are built like an upside down pyramid that flattens out at the bottom. Inside the box, the sticks are bundled together with a ribbon. The effect is classy and sophisticated. The wrapper is dark brown, smooth and silky in appearance. The band is red, black and silver and features the brand and stick name. In the middle of the band, the iconic dancing woman is represented in stencil drawing form. It’s a modern take on the company’s classic mark.

The first third of the La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars starts off with a combination of earth and almond flavors. There is some spice also present, though it is strongest through the nose. Though the pre-light aromas suggest there is some sweetness in the profile, it isn’t present during this part of the stick. Reviewers found that the first third starts off medium to full in strength, but is just about full right before entering the second third.

During the second third of the stogie, the sweetness shows itself. The almond fades out completely, but a sweet taste similar to that of raisins comes to the fore. The earth tones are still present, though they are a secondary taste in this part of the smoke. The spice is still only apparent on the retro-hale, though it is joined by the earth taste.

In the final third of the La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars, the strength has kicked up to full. The flavors in this part of the stogie transition dramatically, with an espresso flavor emerging and quickly becoming the central note. The almond flavor returns and is apparent on the finish. The earth and sweet raisin notes start out as secondary tastes but fade out about halfway through the final third. The espresso and almond tastes remain strong until the nub.

The La Gloria Cubana Esteli cigars are full bodied and full strength smokes that are tailored for the experienced enthusiast. The burn and draw are both excellent due to the stick’s meticulous construction. It’s also a departure from the brand’s normal flavors and complements the rest of its portfolio well as a result.
