La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 Cigars For Sale OnlineLitto Gomez’s La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 cigars are the first produced by his son, Antonio Gomez. Antonio started with his father’s company as a sales representative, but his role in the business has grown over time. Now he appears ready to step into the upper echelon of cigar makers in the industry. This cigar smartly combines the company’s traditional way of doing things with a few new twists, making it a departure from the brand’s standard products. It is shaped like a chisel, with a tapered wedge-like shape on the stick’s cap. This shape has been used by Litto before and it is the only stogie shape to ever be trademarked.

The wrapper on the La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 cigars is a Brazilian Oscuro. The binder is a Connecticut Broadleaf while the filler is from the Dominican. It is available in a single vitola; a box pressed 6 1/2 x 58. The wrapper is dark chocolate in color, though it has even darker marbling in some parts. It is a bit oily and is nearly free of veining. Box pressing can be a controversial thing among aficionados, but reviewers like how this one came out. The band features the brand mark and some abstract designs in gold stamped onto a black background. The cold draw notes largely consist of coffee and leather, though there is also a touch of spice.

In the first-third of the La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 cigars, the flavor profile is similar to the cold draw. The leather taste is the primary flavor, but it is joined by some mocha notes that occasionally rival the leather flavor in dominance. The background is filled out with some grassy layers. A hint of red pepper darts in and out during the first inch or so. By the end of the first third, the leather takes the back seat to the mocha and red pepper flavors. The retrohale evokes some nice herbal spice tastes.

During the second-third, the mocha starts strong but slowly fades out until it is only faintly noticeable. The red pepper remains front and center and is combined with some herbal spice flavors that give the smoke some excellent aromatic qualities. The background consists of grass, mocha, and nutty notes. They play off of the pepper and herb notes very well.

The final third of the La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 cigars ramps up the intensity of the red pepper. The herbal spice drops out, allowing the red pepper to maintain a classic red pepper taste. The nutty flavor is the only other note that comes close to challenging the red pepper. The stogie ends spicy but not harsh.

The burn requires some touching up during the smoke. However, the draw on the La Flor Dominicana Chapter 1 cigars is impressive, especially coming from a unique shape like this. While Antonio advertises this stick as full bodied, some reviewers felt it was medium to full instead. It is close to full strength, though it doesn’t quite get there. In all, it is a cigar that provides some interesting flavors, and can change up an enthusiast’s experience with its unusual shape.
