Curivari Seleccion PrivadaThe first thing to like about Curivari Seleccion Privada cigars is the appearance. This is a nice looking smoke that hails from a fairly new producer in Nicaragua. The wrapper has the appearance of a dried leaf, and is appropriately rough. Oils in the paper create a glossy effect that nearly bounces back any reflection. The wrapper is said to emanate an earthy, spicy aroma, like burning cedar. Most reviewers state that they have not run into any draw issues with this stick. The colors in the wrapper range from orange to light and dark brown. There are many tiny channels running the length of the stick, but it looks natural and does not take away from the appearance. It has a strong body and the triple cap has been expertly done.

The first impression it makes is said to be sweet, and this is not just due to the flavor that comes from the wrapper, but is inherent in both the tobacco and the smoke. In addition, there is more of the spicy, woody flavor that is prevalent with this brand, and some reviewers detected notes of honey or vanilla in the profile as well. An important point about this smoke is that it rewards those with more experienced palates as the overall flavor profile is complex.

The draw is said to be nice and smooth, and Curivari Seleccion Privada cigars put out an impressive amount of smoke. It is thick, but it doesn’t leave any kind of gummy residue behind. It hangs nice and stationary in the air, and fills the area with a pleasant burning cedar scent with flecks of a sweet, arboreal flavor.

When working down through the stick, it was said that it threw a curve with a peppery flavor. The sweetness morphed into something like a maple syrup, while the new peppery scents brought about a balance. The cigar holds on to the sweeter honey and woody flavors throughout. Curivari Seleccion Privada cigars are mild and agreeable with nearly any level of smoker. The ash is said to be a bit flaky and lightly colored.

When reaching the second half, it becomes a more medium bodied stick with a full flavor profile. The finish is a bit dry, but very clean. Occasionally, sticks with a cocoa sweet flavoring like Curivari Seleccion Privada cigars can thickly coat the inside of the mouth with a strong taste, but that’s not the case here. This smoke darts around with softly transitioning changes in flavor, but stays mild and woody with a smooth, fading taste of leather. Many producers call their cigars sweet and cream    y, but this one truly embodies that sentiment.

So how do aficionados view Curivari Seleccion Privada cigars?

Most respond in the same way, that they are very well-rounded and are ideal for both experienced smokers and for newcomers. It’s mild enough for sensitive palates, but can also satisfy a smoker looking for a full bodied offering. It’s the perfect stick to begin a day with, or for those occasions that involve a lot of socializing. It is a member of that rare class – a well done product from a newer producer. The combination of interesting flavors, attractive appearance, excellent workmanship and nice burn make it a competitive smoke for the price. They are available in multiple lines, ranging from mild and medium to full strength.
