Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label Cigar The Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label cigars are the counterpart to the original release of the Fifty Fifty. They are also one of the blends that make up the Viaje core line. Andre Farkas is the man behind these wonderful boutique cigars. His philosophy behind his product is that less is more. He specializes in small batch releases, which the Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label cigar is part of. Why small batches? Andre believes that it allows him to better manage the quality of tobacco that is used in each stick. His philosophy is resonating with aficionados because they have become quite popular, even among people who tend to shy away from boutique labeled smokes.

These are offered in three sizes, the #1 is 5 5/8x46, #2 is 6x50 and #3 is 7x47. They are all made with a two tobacco blend of premium picked fillers and binders. They are wrapped in the best quality Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, bound with a beautiful bold red and gold label. The Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label cigars have a blend that is a bit milder than its counterpart, lending itself to be a true medium to full body smoke. Most people would agree that this is a great smoke choice for the more seasoned cigar smoker since it is more on the full body side throughout most of the smoke.

Andre Farkas' Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label cigars came about soon after their counterparts release at the 2009 IPCPR. The Black Label line was a much stronger blend, and the Reds were made with a more mild blend of tobaccos. There are many reviews on this stick, with most of them agreeing that this is a stand out smoke. It has been noted that this would best be enjoyed by those with a more advanced palate. Many reviewers also stated that it is a well packed smoke. There is some give, but it does not impede the smoking experience in any way. The unique cap has a pig tail end. The wrapper is a solid, medium brown color with minimal veins. The cold draw gives flavors of brown sugar and hazelnut with some sweet tobacco in the background. Most reviewers stated no issues with the burn or draw, many of them stating that both were flawless. This stick produces volumes of smoke, even with the smaller size vitola.

During the first-third of the Viaje Fifty Fifty Red Label cigar there is a deep, earthy flavor noted, as well as tobacco and hazelnut as tasted in the initial draw. There are also hints of brown sugar in the background. Most of these flavors blend themselves to a more complex flavor throughout the smoke. Into the second-third, the earth and tobacco flavors back off and there is a more nutty sweetness that comes out. The reviewers noted that the most dominant flavor at this point is the hazelnut. This smoke rounds the end with some earthiness coming back, with nuttiness and hints of pepper for the finish. Some reviewers also stated that the taste of cinnamon runs throughout the middle to the end of the smoke. For most, the ash was a dark gray and held tight for a good ¾ inch of the smoke. To sum up these sticks, many of those that have enjoyed them stated it is a great boutique stick. It is full of flavor and complexity and is best enjoyed with one’s favorite beverage.
