General Cigar has become on of the most dominant cigar manufacturers of the past 30 years. Along with Altadis USA, they have crafted some of the best selling and most well known brands of cigars since the time of the cigar boom. While today they are known for many of their lines such as Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey, and La Gloria Cubana… it is their Macanudo line that has been their best seller and most well known brand. While the name Macanudo does have its roots in Cuba, it was not as well known as its counterparts like Partagas or Montecristo.

General Cigar first purchased the Macanudo name in 1971. Around that time they began to make a new, mellow version of the cigar using Jamaican tobacco. While it was a huge success at the time, due to terrible weather, manufacturing was eventually shifted to the Dominican Republic. It is there that the Macanudo Café line was truly born.

This cigar remains one of the best selling not just in the US, but in the world. It is known to be the favorite amongst high end, mellow cigar smokers and is also a great choice for the beginner. They are hand rolled with aged Dominican and Mexican tobaccos for a smooth and nutty center, while its Connecticut shade wrapper make its creamy with notes of vanilla and coffee.

It makes sense that many of the Macanudo Café cigars take their names from British Royalty, seeing as they are a popular smoke among the worlds elite. You have the Duke of Devon, the Ascot and the Windsor for example. If you are in the market for a smooth and creamy high end cigar, enjoy a Macanudo Café right now at Serious cigars.
