A passionate group of employees formed Crowned Heads cigars in 2010. The CAO International Company was heading for a merger. The employees felt sure that there would be something lost in the transition. They knew that great tobacco makers and growers were going to end up losing their jobs and that these artisans would lose the ability to offer the world their knowledge, know-how, expertise and experience. Therefore, this very passionate group decided to strike out on their own and offer the world their own brand, Crowned Heads cigar. The company offers their first line, Four Kicks.
This line is available in the following sizes:
• Corona Gorda (5 5/8 x 46)
• Robusto (5 x 50)
• Sublime (6 x54)
• Piramide (6 1/8 x 52).
From the beginning, Crowned Heads cigar has offered their Four Kicks brand. This stick features a wrapper that is Habano Ecuadorian. The binder and the filler are Nicaraguan. They are made at the Tabacalera La Allianza factory in the Dominican Republic where the soil is rich and fertile.
A reviewer recently decided to offer the specifications on the Corona Gorda from the Four Kicks line offered by Crowned Heads cigars. The smoke was described as having a few veins but not being what might be considered a more rustic type of stick. There was also an aroma described that smelled like Hungarian sweet paprika. The taste profile featured citrus notes such as those found in lemon or grapefruit. The citrus was said to be just a bit on the tangy side and not like that of the sweetness in an orange. There was also a taste of leather and earth flavoring that could be detected through the wonderful tobacco notes, as well.
Throughout the first two thirds of the smoke, it was said to have the addition of spicy and sweet overtones. This was along with the nuttiness that was detected with the leathery and sweet paprika spiciness found early on. A light hint of a peppery sensation was also noticeable and it sort of ebbed and peaked at times, but not so much that it was too bothersome or too hot.
Overall, all reviewers that were polled agreed that Crowned Heads cigars had outdone themselves with the creation of the Four Kicks line. This line is fairly new and makes many of their different sizes extremely difficult to find. However, it is important to note that there are many reviews offered about these smokes. This is a significant fact because it is often not the case of a product that has only been in production for a year or so. This alone signifies that people are raving about these cigars. Of course, because they are so hard to find, it also tells the aficionado that they are definitely one of the most sought after new products on the market.
The name of the line came from a Kings of Leon song. The song spoke to the dilemma that a few employees were in during a merger that they feared would damage their own personal vision for what a smoke should be. Thus, this new line was born. |
