According to Camachocigars.com (http://camachocigars.com/our-brands/premium/camacho-corojo/): “The Camacho Corojo, a truly superb tasting and fully aged cigar, has a distinctive flavor recognized by aficionados around the world. Entirely handmade from selected vintage tobaccos, giving them their truly distinctive and superb flavor. This unique cigar boasts the only truly authentic Corojo wrapper, binder, and filler.”

The Camacho Corojo cigar is a full-bodied smoke for the mature palate and is definitely not for the faint of heart, nor the novice cigar enthusiast.   It is, however, quite famous for the stories of new cigar enthusiasts who attempt this well-known and full-bodied smoke before their palates are developed enough to appreciate it.   It has, on more than one occasion, been the source of a neophyte’s newfound resolve not to smoke unfamiliar cigars while intoxicated.  Details are left to your imagination, if not your memory.

Camacho cigars are handmade from two-year-aged vintage tobaccos to create a legendary smoothness, outstanding taste, and flavor. These tobaccos are genuine, first-generation Cuban seed (1997 vintage) Corojo leaf grown in Honduras' Jamastran Valley.  Here, the fertile soil and climate compare to Cuba's renowned Vuelta Abajo Region. It is a Puro in the truest sense; the Camacho Corojo is wholly fashioned of Corojo leaf tobacco.

The dark brown wrapper is plain and rough—sure to please those who appreciate rustic, understated power.  The wrapper has some definite tooth with several veins running through it.  Though the cigar is on the softer side, the draw was first-rate, even if a bit resistant. The burn was fairly good with only one or two touch ups necessary.  The ash, though, was definitely on the loose side, so be sure to keep an eye on it while enjoying a Camacho Cigar.  The amount of smoke produced by this cigar was nearly unbelievable.

The flavor of the Camacho Corojo certainly does not disappoint you.  Complex with depth and delightful layers, the flavors begin with a fair bit of spice and a definite cedar flavor; the second third sees the spiciness mellow some with the addition of a leathery essence.

This full-bodied delight culminates in a surge of spice in combination with pepper and cedar.  Over all, it is a fairly consistent flavor throughout, though it is so enjoyable that few seem to mind. It has enough variety to it to maintain most aficionados’ enjoyment.  Even when the cigar was reduced to a nub it tasted crisp and clean, with no harshness to mar the pleasure of the smoke.

If you have a preference for milder smokes, the Camacho Corojo is certainly not your best choice, and it is definitely NOT for the untutored palate, except perhaps as a rite of passage.  The Camacho cigar is intended for the pleasure of veteran smokers who are used to full-strength cigars, and is highly recommended to anyone seeking a manly full-bodied cigar with a spicy kick to it.
