Don’t Miss Out On Davidoff White Edition 2012 Cigars

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

The Davidoff White Edition 2012 cigars were released in the United States on August 08, 2012. Only eight thousand individually numbered pieces were offered worldwide, making them quite a rarity in the tobacco-lovers’ sphere. This company has a long-standing track record of luxury tobacco lines and an avid client base. This edition has been anxiously awaited with jittery fingertips. The dark, silky-complexioned wrappers provide a beautiful background for the white bands that encircle them. The white bands, likewise, provide a beautiful background for the Davidoff lettering. There is a second band at the foot of the cigars that reads “2012”, drawn in with a beautiful mother-of-pearl finish.

Aside from the visual appeal, these elite sticks stand out rather dramatically in their contrast with the 2011 versions. They are much stronger and full-bodied than the original White Editions. They begin with under currents of hay and grass mixed with sweet tobacco. They then showcase a black pepper, which surprisingly enough is not harsh, but offers a rather gentle flavor according to reviews. They burn with a straight line and the ash, for the most part stays firm, although some noted that a few bits may flake off here and there. With their sleek, dignified look and luxurious and strong-bodied feel, the Davidoff White Edition 2012 cigars are crafted for the nicotine lovers, tobacco-connoisseurs, and Dominican tobacco fans.  There are five different types of aged Dominican tobaccos in the filler, making a delectable combination of flavors. And with only 8,000 sticks available, it seems that the luxury and rarity allow for the $21.50 per stick price.

Griffins Special Edition 2011 Cigars By Davidoff

Friday, August 31st, 2012

The Davidoff cigar company hand rolls the Griffins Special Edition 2011 cigars. The business grows their tobacco in a valley in the Dominican Republic called Cibao Valley, while they grow their wrappers in Ecuador. The materials are chosen carefully for this particular series, as the flavorings are a very complex and intense combination.

The stogies they produce are usually mild and creamy, but their most recent delivery is a much bolder flavor. The stick is filled with Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco, encased in an Ecuadorian wrapping leaf. The filler is consistently packed, and is always hand rolled to ensure the same high quality every time.

The release of the Griffins Special Edition 2011 cigars brought mountains of praise from all around. The flavors were said to be something new and unique to the smoking world. This stogie, a limited edition, brings flavorings such as buttered toast, sweet tea, and caramel, to a light mixing with wood and oak tastes. This smoke lasts for two hours, with a solid ash and construction. From the first third to the final, it held its characteristics. The flavors shifted and transitioned easily, allowing the smoker to embrace each change. This stick does not overheat nor does it get harsh, even as it is toked to the nub.

In the long run, the product manufactured by Davidoff was well met and applauded by enthusiasts. The stick is hand rolled to increase its quality, and rolled in a Simoan style. This style is considered rare, as it is difficult for most rollers to complete it.

Zino Platinum Crown Series Declared Perfect!

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Platinum Crown BarrelThe Zino Platinum Crown series is an enchanting line of cigars that leaves the smoker wanting more, even after the last whiff of smoke has dissipated.  Many reviewers rave that this is the next best thing to an actual Cuban cigar.  They all agree that this is the best of the best. From its Connecticut and Ecuadorian wrapper to the Connecticut filler, this great smoke made in the Dominican Republic delivers on its every promise as a premium, full bodied cigar.

The chocolaty taste of cocoa and the peppery taste of blackened steak come through from start to finish, varying in intensity at times.  The woodsy and blackened steak flavoring seems to be prominent throughout the entire body of the cigar.  The buttery taste that is also experienced throughout the cigar leaves some reviewers declaring that it felt as if there was butter slathered on their lips while they smoked this luxurious offering from the Zino Platinum Crown series.  The slightest hint of the wonderfully tantalizing aroma of coffee was also a flavor note that was described within the reviews.

The Zino Platinum Crown cigar is an extremely limited edition and follows a premium cigar price point.  However, most of the cigar smoking reviewers did not hesitate to splurge on this full bodied taste explosion of complexity that has few, if any rivals. Described as a perfect cigar in terms of the overall flavor, complexity, balance and finish, the Zino Platinum Crown was also noted as a cigar that never offered up anything bitter.

Also noted by aficionados reviewing the cigar was that it never required relighting.  One reviewer added that he had smoked cigars that were very good and he had smoked cigars that were great, and that this one absolutely was so good that it defied finding words to describe its greatness.  How is that for an amazing cigar?

Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008 Garners Accolades

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008 Chubby Especial Well, Davidoff has done it again with the Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008.  It has aficionados and reviewers alike singing its praises and giving all around accolades to this premium, limited edition cigar.

This full flavored, medium bodied smoke tantalizes the taste buds from beginning to end.  Burning evenly and fully, it offers a gratuitous amount of smoke, and the volume continues from start to finish.  The cigar is described as being extremely pleasing to the eye even though the wrapper’s scent doesn’t offer much of a clue as to what the flavor offerings are that lie in store for the smoker.

Usually there is a beverage recommendation from all reviewers of each cigar, but, with the Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008, it is noted that it is so smooth and great tasting, a beverage isn’t necessary at all.  There is no sour or bitterness related to this cigar from start to finish.  The Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008 is mild yet flavorful all the way through.  There is no harshness even when you get to the nub, which is rare for any cigar but expected from a company so widely acclaimed as Davidoff.

Throughout the Zino Platinum Crown LE 2008, there are notes of creaminess that intensify and then back off at times.  There are also very slight hints of cocoa that can be found around the midway point of the cigar.  Towards the end, you will notice some peppery, earthy flavors that are enveloped in the creaminess.  The very end of the cigar offers some wonderful tobacco notes that combine to make this a flavor filled power house of a cigar.

This fine cigar will leave you feeling satisfied, and you will be anticipating the next Zino the next time you reach into your humidor for a smoke!

Davidoff Sampler

Monday, January 31st, 2011
Cigar: Davidoff Sampler Origin: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Ecuadorian, Connecticut, Yamasa Dominican Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican Strength: Mild to Medium Full

There are a few options when choosing a Davidoff Sampler of cigars. This popular brand offers the 12 Count, 3 Count Tubos, 9 Count, Puro d’Oro and Robusto Collection. Each one represents the exquisite quality and deep history that Davidoff is known for, making them all a perfect addition to your humidor.

History: Beginning in as early as 1911, the Davidoff brand has always held a prime spot in the tobacco industry. When Zino Davidoff was young his family was forced to leave Russia and move to Geneva where his family set up their first tobacco shop. This was just the beginning for Zino who grew to love and dedicate himself to the industry. His hands-on experience as well as some coursework in tobacco farming led to many successful ventures. This included the creation of new blends and fresh storage techniques. Despite the expected ups and downs of his journey, Zino ended up back in the Dominican Republic creating exceptionally produced cigars.

Appearance: The Puro d’Oro Davidoff Sampler is just one fine example of why the brand stands out among the rest. This set is made up of one of each of their Puro d’Oro cigars, which includes the Magnifico, Notable, Sublime, and Deliciosos. They come displayed in a classic box to show off their pristine Yamasa Dominican cigar wrappers. Each one has a gold band beautifully embossed with the name, as well as a pigtail cap on the head. The dark colored sticks each contain aged Dominican tobaccos.

Draw/Burn/Ash: The Corona Gorda Notable format is the largest in this Davidoff Sampler. It begins with a fresh grassy scent, while the first puffs give off a hint of spiciness. It is a consistent and smooth smoke that pulls you through a sweet, yet peppery journey to the very end.  The Robusto Magnificos is a full-bodied smoke that provides spicy undertones while slowly sneaking in a mixture of sugar, spice, and earthy flavors. Next, is the Corona Deliciosos, which is the most potent rod in this magnificent sampler.

Flavor: The dominant Yamasas wrapper provides a truly powerful flavor and aroma. It is slow burning while allowing the sweetness and hints of spice to be thoroughly enjoyed. Lastly, the Petit Panetela Sublime is the smallest in the box, although despite its size, this stick burns slow and even. The aroma is a bit like a forest, while the draw is of cream and sugar. The ash on these sticks all hold exceptionally well, all the way from beginning to end.

Recommendation: A Davidoff Sampler is the perfect gift as well as something to personally indulge in.  You don’t have to be a serious cigar smoking aficionado to take in the true quality this brand has to offer. So break out your cigar cutter and experience some of the best Puro d’Oro sticks.

Davidoff Toro Especial Sel 702

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

Origin: Dominican Republic                 Binder: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Dominican Republic            Strength: Medium
Filler: Dominican Republic

Davidoff Especial Sel 702 CigarBackground: It was a great day in 2009 for many devoted Davidoff aficionados when the Davidoff Toro Especial Sel 702 was revealed. As with any special edition cigars from the Davidoff label, the Davidoff Toro Especial Sel 702 hit the market and became one of the hottest new cigars. In fact, because these cigars were only produced during the 2009 calendar year, the hype surrounding them was naturally magnified.

Appearance: One of the most exceptional qualities that one can note on this line of cigars is the flawless skill involved in rolling one of these rods. Not only are these Davidoff cigars without notable imperfections, they are also beautiful as a direct result of the use of Ecuadorian sun-grown wrappers, with luxurious oils that coat the exterior. The Especial line sports the traditional white Davidoff band, but because it is a limited edition, each stick is also adorned with a smaller white band with the Seleccion 702 label.

Flavor and Aroma: Tobacco scent, in conjunction with a collaboration of sweetness, and nutty sensations, describe the pre light experience. Once lit, however, a presence of leather steadily emerges in and out, while a creamy chocolate profile becomes front and center. Toward the end, a potent shot of espresso seals the deal.

Recommendation: Overall, the Especial Sel 702 line of cigars would make an excellent smoke for either a special occasion, or as a gift for a client. Given the price, this might not be an everyday cigar, but it is well worth purchasing when considering something to save for a future celebration.

Davidoff small cigars were a very well received addition to their cigar line upon their release.  They come in two different sizes with two different wrappers. He traveled for five years through Argentina, Brazil and Cuba learning all he could about the cultivation and production of tobacco.  In 1930, Zino returned to his father’s shop. From then on, he worked tirelessly to make the Davidoff brand the highly prized and world famous brand that it is today.

History of Davidoff Cigars

Monday, November 1st, 2010
Cigar: Davidoff Cigars Origin: Dominican
Wrapper: Conneticut Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican Strength:Medium / Full

The Davidoff name is the epitome of luxury and la dolce vita.  Zino Davidoff has taken his boutique cigar brand, Davidoff Cigars, and turned it into a multi-million dollar business that retails not only exceptionally rich and complex smokes, but high-end fragrances, ties, glasses, briefcases and humidors to accommodate his most sophisticated clientele.

Zino was born in 1906 into a Jewish/Swiss family of cigar merchants in Russia.  After fleeing to Switzerland in 1911 to avoid anti-Semitism, his father opened a modest tobacco shop in Geneva which Zino eventually took over in 1940.  He developed his love for Cuban cigars after spending 2 years in Latin America to learn the tobacco trade upon completion of his education in Switzerland.

After WWII, neutral Switzerland avoided the devastation of other parts of Europe, and became a haven for wealthy tobacco customers.  This was a large factor in the accomplishment of Davidoff’s cigar tobacco shop which sparked his success in marketing Cuban cigars.  Cubatabaco, Cuba’s state tobacco monopoly approached Zino to create his own personal brand. In 1969 Zino launched Davidoff Cigars, sold his business in 1970, and went on to create the Davidoff Empire as we know it today.

Davidoff continued to manufacture Cuban cigars, produced in the El Laguito Factory in Havana, until his partnership with Cubatabaco dissolved in 1991.  After numerous disputes over quality and ownership of the brand, an agreement was signed to discontinue the Cuban Davidoff Cigar line.

Dominican Davidoff cigars were subsequently created in 1990 when production was moved to the Caribbean Islands and Zino partnered with Dominican tobacco blender Hendrik Kelner.   Davidoff successfully raised the bar for Dominican smokes.  Today, long after Zino’s death in 1994, the Davidoff brand continues to manufacture immaculately tailored cigars, and is arguably the brand that put Dominican cigars on the map.
