The review that follows is for the Padron 1964 Anniversary – Natural aka PAN 1964.
History: The PAN 1964 has been among the top ranking cigars in the world. It was introduced in 1994 to commemorate Padron’s 30th anniversary.
Appearance: This is a beautifully well-constructed Nigaraguan sun-grown puro cigar. Its natural wrapper has a nice, oily sheen and it is banded in the simple classic Padron style.
Draw/Burn/Ash: The draw is easy and produces a good amount of smoke with each pull. The burn is even and the light gray ash holds as long as you would like to admire it.
Flavor: The main characteristic of this smoke is a mild woody taste that is superior in balance instead of strength. The light nutty notes are accompanied by a creamy smooth finish throughout. The body increases through the rest of the stick and the creamy smooth finish holds on till the very end. The last 3rd kicks up that classic Nicaraguan spice as the nutty flavors intensify.
Recommendation: The Padron Sampler with the 1964 PAN is wonderful anytime, but it’s price often makes it perfect for a memorable occasion instead . These are must-have cigars in many humidors, kept in reserve for very special occasions. Visit our online cigar store to stock yours today!
